My HP Smart Tank 580 keeps jamming with multiple sheets of paper at once. What could be causing this?

Multiple sheet feeding often indicates a problem with the paper separation mechanism. The separation pad might be worn or dirty. Clean the paper pickup rollers and separation pad with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water. Ensure the paper isn't fanned out too much in the tray. If the problem continues, the separation pad may need replacement.
